Recently, a service company, when planning its strategy for the next three years, had a catharsis within the Executive Committee: “its leaders do not communicate effectively the strategy, the way of working or the new products to their teams”.

This Executive Committee, which meets twice a year because of its international nature, drew as a main conclusion that company leaders should be the continued trainers of their teams.

What is striking about the discussions was that the members who complained the most for the lack of implementation were the officers who devoted less time to train their teams.

A second topic was that less-trained teams were those in which the officers were not operative or did not know where they had filed the documents received at each meeting.

At the conclusion of the study days five basic agreements were established:
1.- The leaders are continuous, not sporadic or absent, trainers of their teams.
2.- Without the officers’ learning concern the team cannot be asked for development.
3.- If we focus on working “only” on what we sell today, the team and its chief are not useful for tomorrow.
4.- External aids such as procedures, files, “ad hoc” monitors, trips from the head office are useless without the officer’s awareness, which is the main basis for implementation.
5.- To search a book in Amazon called “How to click in the Execution option for Dummies Leaders” with the idea of learning how to open files where information gets transmitted .
