The Bank of Spain is the national central bank and the supervisor of the banking system in this country. Its activity is regulated by the Autonomy Law of the Bank of Spain (Ley de Autonomía del Banco de España).

The National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) is the agency responsible for the supervision and inspection of stock markets in Spain and the activities performed by any party involved therein.

The Spanish Confederation of Savings Banks (CECA) is the National Association representing all 36 Savings Banks in Spain.

The Spanish Banking Association (AEB) is a professional association made up of practically every Spanish and foreign bank operating in Spain.

The General Bureau of Insurance and Pension Funds is an administrative agency reporting to the Economy State Department, attached to the Ministry of Economy and the Treasury of Spain. Its role is to control and supervise the private insurance and reinsurance activities in Spain.
